We hope you had wonderful weekend! Everybody Counts is this Thursday & Friday. In 2nd grade we learn about hearing impairment. Be sure to ask your child about what all they learn. Next week is Kenton County's spring break so we will be having private transportation. Our spring break begins Thursday, April 18th.

MathWe are working on the 2nd part of Ch. 7 - Time. We will have a test next week.
***For math we combine the 2nd grade classes to make math groups (as they did in 1st grade). There are 3 different groups so be sure to ask your child who their math teacher is. The math homework might differ from class to class nightly. ~ We complete a spiral review of math concepts as part of our daily morning work. Look for this to come home in your child's home folder each Friday. ~ Please practice basic addition & subtraction facts with your kids. Flashcards are a great way to practice! ReligionWe are taking a break from our Blest Are We books to use the Dynamic Catholic - Blessed: First Communion books. We are working on Session 5 which is called "Your First Communion" & Session 6 which is called "God's Family."

SpellingThis week we will be working on . There are 12 words with a spelling test on Friday.
Don't forget to visit www.spellingcity.com to practice our weekly words. On this website the students can take practice tests, play games, & complete word puzzles online. To access our word list: click on the link above, go to "Search," then to "Teachers/Parents," type in "Larcher," & look for our current word list. ~You can also use this link: http://www.spellingcity.com/slarcher/ Regular ***There is no spelling this week Challenge List *** We begin each spelling unit with a pre-test. If the students receive master all 12 words on Monday, they will be given a challenge list for that week. Our weekly test for everyone will be on Friday. |
Language Arts Reading - We are working on Lesson 21 - "DPenguin Chick." The genre of this story is narrative nonfiction. Our comprehension skill is main idea & details.
Vocabulary Words - webbed, steer, otherwise, slippery, waterproof, whistle, junior, finally Vocabulary Strategy - none this week Grammar Skill - none this week Handwriting - We are working on learning the lowercase cursive letters. Writing Program - We are working on Week 20 of our Excellence in Writing Program. Each week there is a poem we work with & the kids are encouraged to try to memorize it & recite it to the class on Friday. The poem for this week is: My Shadow I have a little shadow that goes in and out with me, And what can be the use of him is more than I can see. He is very, very like me from the heels up to the head; And I see him jump before me, when I jump into my bed. *** Great Leaps will be assessed on Mondays & Tuesdays *** Sight Words will be assessed on Wednesdays & Thursdays |
